The
Albatros Squad is a police operative service which is organized, trained,
qualified and equipped to respond quickly and efficiently to a wide range
of requirements which might exceed, at a certain moment, the operational
capacity of the regular police service.
By virtue of its organization and equipment, this squad can act as an homogeneous police and tactical service, working either individually or together with other forces, not only within Prefectura's jurisdiction, but also beyond its boundaries, when necessary, in order to preserve security and public order or to restore them when disturbed. It may also assist the community in the event of emergencies, flooding or other incidents.
The high level of training provided to the members of this group enables Prefectura to respond successfully to the most diverse requirements, not only at the police operative level, but also in joint activities with Civil Defense. These missions imply a high-risk due either to the characteristics of the place, the location where operations are carried out, the type of the offence, the dangerous nature of offenders, or the danger posed to other people’s lives. All these activities have contributed to develop the squad’s remarkable record of services.
The Albatros Squad members are subject to continuous and tough training in order to develop relevant special skills. To this effect, the "Professional Police Training Center", which operates within its scope, provides them with training in order to improve their professional performance. Due to its excellence, this training is also offered to members of other police and security forces in our country and abroad.
